Monterey Bay, California: Mother/Daughter Girls Trip
Monterey Bay, California | Summer 2026 | 3 Nights
The Client
A mom and daughter, middle-school aged.
Why They Called Me
This client has a busy life, juggling multiple kids and their extracurricular schedules, on top of being halfway through a Master’s program. She came to me looking for help to research and manage bookings for a trip she plans to take in Summer 2026, with her daughter. With time constraints being relevant in the day-to-day, I was able to help take the research, booking, and management for this trip, off her plate so she could keep the usual things running smoothly while knowing this trip was planned and taken care of.
Destination & Trip Expectations
This was a fun one! This mom let her daughter choose where she wanted to go on this mother/daughter girls trip, and the destination chosen was Monterey Bay & Carmel. The expectation for this trip was to stay somewhere more centralized to where things were happening and to receive recommendations on 1-2 activities to do each day. The goal of this trip was to see and experience a new place comfortably without an hour-by-hour itinerary.
My Approach
Keeping the above in mind, my strategy here was to start with the accommodations. First, finding the right, centralized, location would be key to make it easy for this duo to get to and from a variety of locations in both Monterey and Carmel that are on their list without needed to spend too much time in the rental car each day. Second, it was also important to find hotel options for these clients that were not big brand. The daughter had chosen this location based on her own research and how much she loves the quaintness of the fairytale homes in Carmel, and so it was important that I selected some hotel options that captured that essence.
What I Booked
I presented these clients with multiple options to consider but the one that stood out most to my clients was The Lighthouse Lodge & Cottages. This charming boutique hotel is in Pacific Grove, California and makes it easy to get to-and-from surrounding attractions like Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The rooms are cozy, some with fireplaces to warm up the room on cooler nights. And the park-like grounds on the property are also equipped with fire pits to enjoy in the afternoon.
